Vidal in His Own Words
Published: December 03, 2008
By Alicia Liotta
The professional beauty industry would not be what it is today without the work, innovation, inspiration, commitment and influence of Vidal Sassoon. I had the privilege to sit down with the father of modern hairdressing and an exemplary steward of social consciousness to talk about his past, present and future. During our time together, I learned where this man came from and where he is going. At 80 years old, Sassoon is not done.
Can't get enough Vidal?
Check out Alicia's in-depth article, "Vidal Sassoon: Living Legend." This article was printed in MODERN'S December 2008 issue featuring 50 Influential Hairdressers. (Number 50 is, of course, the man on our cover, Vidal Sassoon). |

Published: September 27, 2008
By Maggie Mulhern
Crimson, ruby, flame, burgundy, rust—the shades of red are endless. Suzanne Schiller-Szabo, owner of Suzanne’s Hair and Colour Room in Oradell, New Jersey, has created a modern, bold shade to add depth and interest to our model’s bob.
“Just because you have a classic bob doesn’t mean you can’t have fun color,” she says.
Here, Schiller-Szabo used multiple coloring services to bring the model from her “almost natural” blonde to an exciting and dimensional red with the new Hipertin line of color.
In the following video, Maggie Mulhern, Beauty & Fashion Director of Modern Salon, hand-delivered a copy of the October 08 magazine to Suzanne, featured cover stylist of the month.See how she reacted! |

Fall Hair Forecasts from Fernando Romero
This autumn, hair trends run the gamut from cropped pixie cuts, twists on the classic bob and soft, long feminine looks. Here, Bio Ionic founder Fernando Romero creates the season’s styles on two models.
“Fall hair is all about freedom. Hair should be wearable, versatile and full of texture,” says Romero. “Cuts, color and style should accentuate facial features, flatter and complement the woman’s personality and individual beauty.” |
