5 Ways to Impress Your Clients

To get your clients to continue coming back and to refer their friends to you, at each visit keep in mind what will make them impressed with you. A lot of hairdressers can please their clients, but fewer can really impress them. My suggestions to raise your image to that next level:

1. Conduct yourself as the consummate professional. Start the service on time, and have your station clean and ready to go.
2. Look the role. Your hair, make-up and nails should set an example. Don’t just be well-groomed; have vibrant hair color and an up-to-date cut.
3. Know your clients personally. Consult notes, if you must, in order to refresh your memory about what’s going on with their hair style and in their lives. It impresses clients that you care enough to remember the little things they tell you.
4. Make recommendations. Always have an idea for them to change up their look. Maybe a current trend goes well with their face shape or hair texture, or perhaps a new retail product is just what they’ve been lacking in their at-home regimen.
5. Let them know you continue to educate yourself. Anytime you attend a trade show, travel to an advanced academy, participate in an in-salon workshop, take an online technical class, receive product knowledge training or watch an educational video, share this development with clients. It will impress them that you’re passionate and learning new things that will directly help them to achieve a great look.

I really think this is pretty basic stuff, but people tend to forget that it is the little things that matter. Clients appreciate cleanliness, being on time, and you remembering that they are trying to grow their bangs out. Also, I always mention anything I am doing to continue to educate myself,a nd clients always seemed impressed with that. When I tell them about an upcoming class or show, the next time they are in, they are asking me to share what I learned. It keeps them, and you, interesting!
